Welcome to the 2010/2011 Wrestling Season!

The Verona Youth Wrestling Club is committed to improving the minds and bodies of young wrestlers. The club was founded over 23 years ago and is designed to instruct kids from K-8 in the fundamentals of wrestling, provide competition, teach good sportsmanship, but mostly to HAVE FUN!

• Registration will be held on Dec. 2nd, 6:00 - 8:00. Fees will be $75 which includes USA Wrestling card, fees for three tournaments, t-shirt and a wrestling duffel bag.   

2010/2011 Key Dates and Practice Schedule: Practice for all youth wrestlers is from December 6th - March 9th Monday and Wednesdays Practices will be December 6th, 8th, 13th, 15th, 20th and 22nd K - 4th graders practice from 6:00 - 6:45 pm 5th - 8th graders practice from 6:45 - 8:00 pm Mandatory Parent's Meeting Wednesday January 5th  Please keep in mind that if the Verona HS does not have school on a Monday or Wednesday we will not practice Picture Night TBA  State qualifiers and a few practice partners will have practices March 14th, 16th, 21st, and 23rd 6:00pm – 8:00pm Grades K-8 All practices will be in the Verona High School wrestling room

Tournaments:

As part of your membership in the VYWC, the club pays the registration fee for three tournaments per year. This year's tournaments are below. Registration forms for Oregon need to be turned in to Craig Neuroth by January 5th.

• Oregon - Saturday, January  (pre-registration only..needs to be turned in by Jan 6th)
• Mt Horeb - Sunday, February
• Verona - “Warm up to Regionals“ - Sunday March 6th

• Kids Folkstyle Regionals Sauk Prairie – Saturday March 12th 
• Kids Folkstyle State Alliant Center Madison – Friday/Saturday March 25th/26th
• Kids Folkstyle Nationals Cedar Falls IA - Friday - Sunday April 1st - 3rd  

Other Important Notes:

• Parents are strongly encoraged to particpate in practices.
• Practices will begin with stretching, review of old moves, teach new moves, live wrestling and end with a fun game. 
• All wrestlers must wear headgear at tournaments. Wrestling shoes are optional, but encouraged.
• Singlets, T-shirts and duffel bags will be provided by the VYWC.

FYI...wrestling equipment (shoes, headgear and kneepads)

• There are a few parents selling used wrestling equipment, if you are interested or would like to sell used equipment please see any of the coaches. 
• New equipment can be purchased in Middleton at All American Wrestling Supply, Madison at MC Sports or Dicks.
